In today's increasingly violent world, it is the Police Officer who stands alone on the front lines between the citizen and the evils of society who never seem to tire in their quest to steal away our life, liberty and property. Unfortunately, in their quest to successfuly wreak havoc in society, criminals no longer hesitate to commit violent physical or deadly assaults on the Police Officer. As the last line of defense against these criminals, the Police Officer deserves to be the most highly trained in history as they not only face the overwhelming criminal element, but the paralyzing fear exacted upon the Police Officer by an overly litigious society seeking the "Golden Ticket" of a Civil Rights violation (real, imagined or concocted) during a dynamic, violent arrest. As a result, Dynamic Control Systems, LLC strongly believes we have created the most efficient, effective and court defensible Defensive Tactics Program on the market... discover the difference!"If you have the will, I have the way!"Steve PinkertonOwner/Creator of Dynamic Control Systems, LLC

ABOUT
Why choose us?
As a Police Defensive Tactics Instructor and Martial Arts Instructor, I have probably seen every magic potion and snake oil that promises the one simple answer to countering and defeating an assault... Well, let me assure you there is none! Every physical encounter takes on a life of its own, ever flowing and changing, requiring multiple answers for each assault. That is why I developed Dynamic Control Systems. The uniqueness of this program lies in its adherence to the principle of disrupting the adversary's attack by slowing down the adversary's progress through a combination of evasion, head control and gun side arm isolation through the use of wrist and elbow control techniques or figure four control techniques. In addition, we utilize specifically designed or chosen sweeps, reversals and takedowns in conjunction with these evasion and control techniques to place the adversary in a position of disadvantage, ultimately leading to the successful handcuffing of the adversary. The culminating effect of these principles is the ability of the Officer to control the adversary's threatening strikes or grabs while displacing the suspect's balance, thereby decreasing or completely negating the suspect's strength or advantage in skill level, providing the Officer precious time to implement a counter offensive or control the suspect until assistance arrives. We also pride ourselves on instilling the warrior mindset in our students, which we believe changes the dynamic of the assault from the adversary assaulting the Officer to the Officer leading the adversary into his/her trap and the Officer becoming the aggressor. Or, like I always like to say, "The bad guy doesn't have you, you have him!" That mindset is vital in overcoming an assault. You must flip the switch on to the warrior mindset and believe you have the skillls and ability to overcome any assault. In order to have this brand of confidence, you must believe in the skills you have been provided through an effective, efficient and court defensible defensive tactics program. We believe we provide that skill set, by not only providing techniques that are virtually fullproof, but by developing the skill set necessary to successfully complete the techniques. We believe we accomplish this goal by teaching the techniques, not just individually, but within a flow drill and under semi-live to live conditions, taking the technique from "static learning" (unrealistic) to "live learning" (realistic). The stress of learning the techniques in this manner allows the Officer to own the technique and be able to deal with the stress of an unpredictable assault effectively and still maintain the ability to accomplish the techniques... as Guru Jay D'Amato always says, "The truth is in the drills."My program's motto is, "IF YOU HAVE THE WILL, I HAVE THE WAY!" Please join me in finding the way with Dynamic Control Systems, so you can be confident you WILL be the one going home to your friends and family at the end of your shift.

Dynamic Ground Control System
This course was developed to provide officers with proven step-by-step tactics to assist officers in controlling subject(s) in a variety of common scenarios prior to and upon physically engaging subject(s), thereby minimizing the potential for physical violence.
This system of handcuffing will enable the officer to immediately gain control of the suspect upon first touch, thereby likely dissuading the suspect from attacking or fleeing from the officer. In addition, this system will enable the officer to control the suspect, take the suspect down to the ground and complete the handcuffing procedure with relative ease, if during the handcuffing or searching procedure the suspect attempts to assault or flee.
The theories and techniques contained in this program are based on control and handcuffing of violent-resistive suspects in dynamic ground control encounters. Special emphasis is placed on weapon retention through “Gun Side Arm Isolation” utilizing the “Figure Four” arm lock. In addition, Sweeps are utilized in conjunction with the weapon retention techniques to place a suspect in a position of disadvantage and facilitate weapon retention or weapon disarm, should the suspect be successful in removing the weapon from the holster.

(Steve Pinkerton) I am a life-long resident of St. Louis, Missouri and the Owner and Creator of Dynamic Control Systems, LLC. I am married to my beautiful wife and we have two beautiful children. I received my B.S. in Criminal Justice and Sociology in 1992 and my M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration in 2003, both from Lindenwood University. In 1995, following a brief professional football career, I began my martial arts training at California Mixed Martial Arts Academy, under the tutelage of Guru Jay D'Amato (earning my Black Belt in 2003) in order to prepare to fulfill my life-long dream of becoming a Police Officer. I knew in order to have the confidence and the skill to be an effective Police Officer I had to prepare for the dangers inherent in Police work. After becoming a Police Officer in 1996, I began following in the footsteps of my Instructor, Jay D'Amato, in expanding my training to include studying with other master instructors, such as Guru Ken O'Neill in Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, Kali and Aikido; Master Jimmy Choi in Eskabo Daan and Rodrigo Vaghi in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Blue Belt). I found out quickly how my preparation through the martial arts would pay off in unquantifiable ways during numerous violent arrests and assaults directed at me and/or my co-workers. What I also discovered through my Police Academy Training and my observations of my co-workers on the street is that the training in the academy and continuing education classes provided to Officers was unrealistic, unreliable and ineffective and that nearly all of my co-workers were untrained and lacked the awareness of the dangers this presented to them as an officer. Consequently, I sought and recieved a position at our Police Academy as an instructor in Patrol and Defensive Tactics, in order to begin implementing the changes I felt were necessary to transform the program into an effective training program for Officers. Unfortunately, I continuously ran up against a bureaucratic brick wall in my efforts to reform the training program, therefore, I transferred out of the academy and back to the streets as a Field Training Officer, where I took it upon myself to begin developing and refining what was to become the Dynamic Control System (2007)I have since traveled the country refining and proving my program's effectiveness to many martial artists and defensive tactics instructors. I have received incredible feedback, which motivates me to continue striving to provide my programs to as many Officers as possible.I hope you join me in discovering the power of Dynamic Control Systems... "If you have the will, I have the way!"
(David Crocker) David is a life long resident of St. Louis, Missouri. David joined the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in 2008 and is currently serving as a Patrol Officer. David began his martial arts training with High School Wrestling, where he was a Conference Champion. In addition, David has trained under Guru Jay D'Amato at California Mixed Martial Arts Academy, since 2005 and has trained with me privately since 2007. David has been instrumental in the development of Dynamic Control Systems, as well as being the Co-Creator of the Dynamic Ground Control System and Aggression Deterrence Handcuffing System.
(Guru Jay D'Amato) Jay is a life long resident of St. Louis, MIssouri. Jay began his study of the traditional martial arts of Karate and Tae Kwon Do in 1971. In 1973 Jay began searching for more answers, studying the non-traditional arts of Boxing, Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do . Jay loved these arts so much, he wanted to learn from the best, so Jay made the journey to Seattle, Washington where he began studying Wing Chun Do with James DeMiles (one of Bruce Lee's original students). In 1979, Jay's restlessness and desire for more knowledge drove him to seek out Bruce Lee's number one student and protege Dan Inosanto in Torrence, California. He was not disappointed. "It has been 30 years since I started training with Dan, and I still think he is the best martial artist I have ever met. Dan has inspired me to be the best martial artist I can be as well." For additional training Dan Inosanto encouraged Jay to seek out one of his top students, Paul Vunak, for private lessons. (Paul was the perfect choice, as he has become one of the most respected and in demand instructors in the world) After 8 more years of training Jay received his instructor's certification from Paul and Dan . Even his certification under Dan Inosanto wasn't enough for Jay, he wanted to learn from from those who taught Dan Inosanto, so In 1980 Jay started his school, California Martial Arts Academy in Maplewood, Missouri. Shortly thereafter, Jay organized and conducted annual summer camps in Irvine, California, which welcomed students from all over the world to learn from the masters of their respective arts in week long, forty hour sessions with their individual instructors.. Among the celebrated masters who attended and instructed were Dan Inosanto, Paul Vunak, Larry Hartsell, Grand Master Leo Gaje Jr., Grand Master Jimmy Tacosa, Francis Fong, Grand Master William Cheung, Bill Wallace, Surachai "Chai" Sirisute, and Daniel Duby just to name a few. Eventually, through his great committment, dedication, discipline and zeal for learning , Jay also became a private student of G.M. Jimmy Tacosa and G.M. Leo Gaje Jr. which led to an instructor certification under each Grand Master. This enhanced Jay's development as an instructor and opened new doors in which to explore and continue to mold his own personal philosophy of the arts. Although grappling was a staple in his studies under Paul Vunak and Dan Inosanto, Jay knew the only way to become a complete martial artists was to search out the masters in the grappling arts. So, in 1990 Jay began his journey into the realm of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu under the tutelage of the Machado Brothers, Rickson Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Wellington "Megaton" Diaz and Gokor Chivichyan (Russian Sombo, Judo and Submission Grappling), among others. With this vast knowledge of the various ranges of fighting, Jay pooled his knowledge and devised his own philosophy of developing a good fighter. This philosophy of focusing on training methodology and unique skill development drills flowed seemlessly into opening the first Mixed Martial Arts training school in Missouri, which, over the years, has developed a very competitive Mixed Martial Arts Fighting Team, that has won several local championships and sent fighters into the professional ranks in highly publicized local professional fight promotions, as well as nationally televised Strikeforce events. In Jay's spare time, he co-hosts a local MMA radio program called, "The Ground N Pound Show." Jay also serves as a Referee, Judge and Sanctioning Representative for several local MMA events. Jay is not only a mentor and instructor, he is a great friend Jay cares deeply about my work as a Police Officer and has assisted me in developing the Dynamic Control System's curriculum. Jay has also beeen gracious enough to dedicate his time to developing his own Police Knife Defense Program, which is available through Dynamic Control Systems or on a private basis with Jay. "One of the things I like about Dynamic Control Systems is the consistency of the program through all different positions. You don't have to learn a lot of different techniques, but you see the same things over and over, so it seems easy to learn for the new user." "Also, I like the idea that from all different positions, it's always weapon retention focused. You're focused on the gun side arm and I think that is something lacking in a lot of systems is that kind of focus from every area."I'm also very impressed with the "Safety Position." The "Safety Position" seems extremely strong and one that doesn't necessarily have to use strength to make it a strong position, but in fact leverage which would make it better for a smaller statured officer." "Overall, I think it's a very well layed out system and I look forward to possibly incorporating some of the curriculum in to our programs."~ Chris JohnsHead Defensive Tactics InstructorSpringfield Missouri Police Department CLICK HERE For more information about Chris at www.gatekeepertraining.com
Elizabeth Blair ~United States Park Service Ranger St. Louis, MissouriSince taking your class, I have recommended your class to several friends in the law enforcement realm, including tactics instructors. I truly believe what you are teaching is the best I have seen, and alot of that has to do with my personal experience with picking up new techniques in this area. Anyone who knows me well, knows I have never been particularly physically coordinated when it comes to learning new officer response tactics. It took me most of FLETC to get new techniques down and sharpen familiar infrequently used techniques. Yet, after only three days in your class, I was excelling and very comfortable with the techniques. It is amazing how often an opportunity poses itself to incorporate the two-handed control grip. The basic one-handed grip is so incredibly simple, I actually found myself using it recently without even thinking about it. A friend (co-worker), went into my belt region with his hand to mess with me. My reaction was instinctual--I didn't think about it; I just did it. And I did not just move his hand away and make space as I might in the past from past techniques, or, being a friend, allow him to do whatever he was planning. I grabbed his wrist and moved it where I wanted it. The amount of control I had actually startled my friend and he backed off (when I let him).
"I'm 5.' 6", 145 lbs and I can tell you these techniques didn't need much strength, it was all about the technique and using leverage to get the control that we were looking for. So, that was the main thing I liked about it, you didn't have to use your strength or bully your opponent to get them where you wanted them, you could just use your leverage.""I also liked the fact that a lot of these different techniques all ended up in similar positions, so once you ended up in a position and you learned it, when you moved into another technique, you would find yourself ending up in the same control place many times, so it made it a much easier program to learn."~ Flint RoufsCorporalAssistant Police Academy DirectorAssistant Defensive Tactics Instructor Springfield Missouri Police Department

MARCH 2, 2012Dynamic Control Systems is offering its second annual Aggression Deterrence Handcuffing Seminar in St. Louis, Missouri.Aggression Deterrence Handcuffing is a full 8 hours of Missouri POST approved handcuff training that will empower you and finally allow Officers to gain control of a suspect upon first touch, which most Officers recognize as the most dangerous moment of an arrest. As Chris Johns, the Head Defensive Tactics Instructor of the Springfield Missouri Police Department said last year at our inaugural seminar, "Aggression Deterrence Handcuffing is a complete paradigm shift from what the law enforcement community is currently utilizing." And, "Ive never seen the FUSION technique before. It's hard to believe how effective it is, until you feel it!"Dynamic Control Systems has established a new price of $50 dollars, in order to make the training more affordable for individual Officers during this downturn in the economy and subsequent elimination of most department funding for defensive tactics training. In fact, if you bring 4 or more Officers, Dynamic Control Systems will cut the price in HALF! That's 8 hours of training for $25 dollars.... Hope to see you all there!AUGUST 30, 2011I was hired as the new Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Jefferson College Law Enforcement Academy (Hillsboro/Imperial, Missouri): a 1000 hour, Class A accredited law enforcement academy. My sincerest appreciation goes out to Captain Scanga of the Jefferson College Law Enforcement Academy for entrusting me with their Defensive Tactics training needs.AUGUST 2 - 4, 2011Our Dynamic Control System's Aggression Deterrence Handcuffing and Dynamic Ground Control Seminar was a resounding success. Although our numbers weren't as large as we expected, the training was challenging and everyone had a blast learning new techniques, drills and theories.Several members of the Springfield, Missouri Police Department and a Ranger from the National Parks Service (St. Louis) attended the seminar and I received great feedback from the attendees. The head defensive tactics instructor at Springfield called the Aggression Deterrence Handcuffing a, "complete paradigm shift from what the law enforcement community is currently utilizing." Adding, he had never seen a more innovative and effective control technique than the fusion techniques utilized in the Aggression Deterrence Handcuffing System. The Park Ranger said she was so impressed with the seminar, she was going to do all she could to introduce the material to the instructors at FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center)
